Deep Winter

    Listen. Any premium verb
    you attach to synapse

    firing works. Glimmer, mend.
    Orgasm, even. Believe me,

    I checked: that leaky pipe
is a spiral fracture we’ll never

    discover is
    a golden ratio. The best

    part is you can give
a name to whatever it tells you.

    2

If there is an equation to
determine how much of me is

    the dust in your apartment,

burn it. Burn it along with
    the single dead leaf

    skittering across the snow.
    Having faith

    in the actual earth.
