Border A Cappella
by Mercedes Lawry

  1. Borders are lies and liars
  2. join hands as dust rises to coat bones.
  3. A renegade wind dissolves.
  4. How many witnesses sigh?
  5. How loudly? How far do the sighs
  6. reach? Do the trees capture them?
  7. Do they fester in pools of red rock?
  8. Can you hear them?
  9. Can they be heard out and beyond?
  10. Those moving between countries
  11. shift their thirst.
